CHEF is not a formal entity but as a community of home educating parents, we embrace all styles of HE, supporting all HE families to flourish. We are not a school and we do not offer a curriculum; instead we provide a space where parents can offer and accept opportunities to get together to make connections, share activities and socialise. Some activities are group classes or field trips that are difficult for families to do alone. Pre-covid, CHEF was a more formalised group with a committee but now is the term we use to describe all families wishing to home educate in the area who work together to collaborate and build community.

We also hold regular Positive Dialogue Meetings which prospective, new, current and past home educators are all welcome to attend. 

Our community currently has several hundred families based in Cambridge and outlying towns and villages. It has been in existence since 2002. We have minimal bureaucracy with an email group, whatsapp and Facebook groups to facilitate and support activities for home educating families. We all warmly welcome you to join us!
