About CHEF.

Cambridgeshire Home Educating Families (CHEF) is no longer a formal entity and has been reimagined since covid as a diverse, flexible, inclusive community of home educating families, encompassing all styles of home education and embracing lots of different ways to connect with other home educating families. Through a huge range of channels, parents can offer and accept opportunities to get together to make connections, share activities and socialise. Some activities are group classes or field trips that are difficult for families to do alone. We work together to collaborate and build community - no one is in charge, there is no committee; we all simply muck in and do whatever we have capacity to do.

We also hold regular
Positive Dialogue Meetings which prospective, new, current and past home educators are all welcome to attend.

Our community currently has several hundred families based in Cambridge and outlying towns and villages. It has been in existence since 2002. We have minimal bureaucracy and operate an email group and there also many Whatsapp and Facebook groups around too which facilitate and support activities for home educating families. You are warmly welcome you to get involved in whatever ways work best for you - please do ask lots of questions if you need help figuring that out and once you've found your feet, help answer them too!
