Cambridge Home Educators' Positive Dialogue Meetings
THE NEXT MEETING
When? Wednesday 15th April 2026, 4pm for 4.30pm start, finishing no later than 6.30pm
Where? The Children & Families Wing at The Meadows Community Centre and on Zoom (click here for the link).
I'm coming! Kindly let us know if you can make it here (anonymous).
Agenda will be shared on this page nearer the time.
Background
We have been very fortunate in Cambridge to have enjoyed great support for home educators from Cambridgeshire County Council, with a light-touch approach that places trust in parents. One of their ways they demonstrate their support for home educators is by booking and paying for a room for our Positive Dialogue Forum meetings, which now take place annually in April. It is important to maintain this positive relationship and promote dialogue in the interests of all young people locally.
Previous meetings
Our last meeting took place on Wednesday 9 April 2025. There were around 40 attendees including inputs from a researcher from the University of Cambridge Faculty of Education, an LA representative advising on EHCPs for home educated children and a parent sharing his family's home education journey.

A note about privacy
Note the names of attendees are not recorded and attending does not place you on the LA's register of EHE families, which is entirely voluntary and is intended for the purposes of offering us support e.g. vaccination reminders/useful signposting etc. If you have concerns though, you are welcome to attend in person or on Zoom completely anonymously by not giving your name/changing your display name, leaving your video off and contributing via Zoom chat function or sending your questions in advance.
Volunteers
We always need volunteers to run these meetings, please get in touch if you would be willing to do any of the following:
- take a turn at chairing
- share your home education journey
- assist with tech support
- help with coordination (e.g. admin/printing/liaising with LA and parent speakers)
- take minutes
- proof read the minutes
- share updates about the meetings to a variety of platforms
