Cambridge Home Educators' Positive Dialogue Forum
Background
We have been very fortunate in Cambridge to have enjoyed great support for home educators from Cambridgeshire County Council, with a light-touch approach that places trust in parents. They also book and pay for a room for our Positive Dialogue Forum meetings, which now take place annually in April. It remains of vital importance that we maintain this good working relationship and take every opportunity to educate our allies there on what effective home education looks like and what support we'd like from them.
The last meeting
Our last meeting took place on Wednesday 13 November 2024 at the Meadows Community Centre for those attending in person, and on Zoom for those attending from home. There were 66 attendees and the meeting lived up to its title - there was much positive and supportive dialogue between home educators and with the local authority.
The next meeting
The next meeting will take place on Wednesday 9th April 2025 (4pm for 4.30pm start, finishing no later than 6.30pm) at the Meadows Community Centre for those attending in person and on Zoom for those attending from home. A copy of the agenda will be made available here and circulated closer to the meeting date. Please email to let Penny (Chair) and Helen (coordinator) know if you plan to attend in person or on Zoom so we know what numbers to expect.
A note about privacy
Note the names of attendees are not recorded in the minutes and attending does not place you on the LA's register of EHE families, which is entirely voluntary and is intended for the purposes of offering us support e.g. vaccination reminders/useful signposting etc. If you have concerns though, you are welcome to attend in person or on Zoom anonymously by not giving your name/changing your display name, leaving your video off and contributing via Zoom chat function or sending your questions in advance to the email address above. A Zoom link for the meeting will be posted here closer to the time.
